CMOW’S Friendly Visiting Programs offer seniors and people with disabilities who have limited social interaction an opportunity to maintain healthy, happy, independent lives. Regular visits from volunteers, in person or over the telephone, provide friendship and support to our clients.
Friendly Visit – Clients are matched with volunteers who make weekly visits to their home. Some activities that transpire include: chatting, looking at old photos, playing cards or even going for a walk or coffee.
TeleChat – An extension of the Friendly Visit, except that the volunteer visits are done over the phone instead of in person. Volunteers call clients on a weekly basis, at a mutually agreed upon time.
Let’s Do Lunch – Through our “Let’s Do Lunch” program we are able to offer an opportunity for clients to connect with our volunteers/their peers on a regular basis while eating a healthy meal together. Weekly lunch visits will take place in clients’ homes, will be social in nature, and will foster new friendships, and sharing. This program was made possible through a Senior’s Community Grant from the Government of Ontario.
Let’s Exercise – Volunteer lead, simple, progressive, in-home exercise allows our clients to connect with their peers weekly while giving them an opportunity to enhance and maintain their functional fitness, mobility and independence. This program was made possible through funding received from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Let’s Read – CMOW has partnered with Caledon Public Library’s Visiting Library Service to offer clients the opportunity to have library materials brought to their home and have a friendly visit at the same time.
CMOW’s friendly Visiting Programs cannot provide respite care, transportation to appointments or homemaking services.
