Summer Student- Program Assistant

30 hours/ week @ $11.40/ Hour
(3 positions available)
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Caledon Meals on Wheels Program Assistant will support the planning and implementation and evaluation of program and service activities for Older Adults/ Seniors in Caledon, Brampton, and Orangeville.
Assist with the planning, implementing, facilitating and evaluation of CMOW programs and services including WISE Seniors Health & Wellness programs, Hot and Frozen Meals on Wheels program, Friendly Visiting Program & Special Events)
Conduct outreach in seniors buildings and within the community to encourage participation in Caledon Meals on Wheels (CMOW) programs and services.
Support all aspects of the administration for the program (eg. intake, collection of statistics, monies and program reports) on a weekly basis.
Collaborate with CMOW program staff, volunteers, community partners when planning and implementing program activities. Answer the telephone, direct calls; takes and relay messages; provide information and referral for CMOW clients and outside inquiries
Ensure that program activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization Collect and enter program and statistics into database Attend CMOW events/ meetings as required Other duties as assigned
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
Must be 15-30 years of age at the start of employment
Have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year
Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred
Be legally entitled to work in Canada
Cannot be an immediate family member of a CMOW employee, director or officer.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of seniors’ issues
Interest in learning more about planning and implementing of programs for Seniors/ Older Adults
Ability to work with computers including Windows, MS Office, etc.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated enthusiasm and creativity
Due to the geography and the lack of public transit in Caledon use of a car is necessary
