Provide companionship to seniors in your community. Volunteers are matched with clients and visit them once a week in their homes at a mutually agreed upon time. Prior to meeting a client, volunteers will have a one-on-one orientation session with the Client & Volunteer Services Supervisor. They will also accompany the volunteer to the first visit with client. CMOW offers three types of in-home visits.
- “Let’s Get Together” -Participate in friendly activities such as puzzles, cards, going for a walk, or chatting with your client.
- Telechats are friendly phone calls with clients that would prefer their visit over the phone.
- “Let’s Exercise”- An opportunity for our clients, that can’t get out to exercise, to have the exercise come to them. Volunteers deliver a simple 10 step chair exercise program on a weekly basis. Volunteers receive training to deliver this program.
- “Let’s do Lunch” is a visit with lunch. Volunteers pick up two Meals on Wheels meals to be enjoyed with client over the noon hour. Volunteer’s lunch is free.
